The ideal husband.

Could such a man exist? Strong but sensitive … servant hearted … ready to give up everything for his bride?

The bridegroom at the wedding Jesus went to certainly wasn’t (John 2:1-12). He failed embarrassingly on his own wedding day. Thankfully another bridegroom provided instead.

A short time later John called Jesus the bridegroom (John 3:29). He loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with word  through the word … (Ephesians 5:25,26)

Some people long for the ideal husband; others of us long to be one. But as Christians we have the ideal husband.

‘Blessed are those invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb’ (Revelation 19:9) – because he’s the ideal husband, and we’re not just invited to the wedding as guests – we’re part of the bride!
