Join the celebrations at historic Kurrajong
Kurrajong and North Richmond Anglican Church celebrates the 150th anniversary of its St Stephen’s church building with a big birthday party on April 7.
Everybody is invited to join the celebrations, starting at the 10am service at Grose Vale Road, Kurrajong.
Anglican Archbishop of Sydney, Glenn Davies will speaking at the service and joining the activities to follow.
From 12pm check out displays of historic farm machinery, classic cars, Rural Fire Service gear and orchard produce.
Listen to live concert and band music, including the Barker College jazz band and choir.
Join fascinating guided tours of the cemetery – with graves dating back almost 150 years.
Enjoy good food, good coffee, including a Devonshire afternoon tea on the rectory lawns.
Hear how older parishioners tell their stories about what life was like at church – and in the Hawkesbury Valley – back in the 1940s, ‘50s and ‘60s
And, especially for the kids there will be face painting, games, a jumping castle, petting zoo, an Easter hat making workshop, and plenty to eat.
The Colo Shire Family History Group have been transcribing the Parish records into book form for nine years (first as part of the Kurrajong-Comleroy Historical Society and then as a separate group), along with the stories of the Church, the Ministers, the families, the Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals pertaining to each volume. We are currently working on Volume 4. They are available for sale by contacting Joy Shepherd on 0417 029 685. They will be available at the 150th Anniversary on 7th April. The 1st and 2nd volumes are $20 each, and Vol 3 is $25.
